When the pandemic made impact, it caught Sound of Illinois at the worst possible time — one day before its 78th annual show, the prime fund-raiser for the Bloomington Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.


On Friday, March 12, 2020, the venue manager called to tell us all activities on the Illinois State University campus were cancelled, including at the Performing Arts Center where we were to have performed.  Tickets and ads had been sold, an emcee and guest quartet hired, and an enormous amount of time had been devoted to preparing a package of show songs for Boot-Scootin' Barbershop.
