The Spirit of Harmony are a men's barbershop chorus within the British Association of Barbershop Singers. They are the chorus of the Vale of York Barbershop Harmony Club, formerly Calder Valley Barbershop Harmony Club.

They are led by Musical Director Sally McLean who joined the chorus in 2012. Since then, the chorus have achieved their highest ever scores in competition.

History

In 1993 Stuart Lees, Dave Brown and Terry Adamson, who were singing with the Bradford chorus “Chordbusters Incorporated”, joined with some other singers to set up a new chorus. Thirteen men attended a meeting and agreed to form a chorus with two aims: to strive for improvement and be competitive, and to establish a real enjoyment of singing together. Terry Adamson suggested the name “Spirit of Harmony”. Eleven singers attended the first rehearsal in Rothwell.
