The Harmunichs are Munich's first barbershop chorus and active members of the German Barbershop Society BinG!, as well as the Bavarian Chorus Society "Bayerischer Sängerbund". The chorus has more than 40 active singers and is also a Sweet Adelines International prospective member getting more and more actively involved in building up the German Sweet Adelines chapter.


History

The Harmunichs were founded in 1995 as "Bavarian Harmony Chours" by the US American Kelly Graves. Since 2001 the chorus is directed by Monica Knox, who had been a member of the Harmunichs since 1987 singing tenor and lead.

In 2006 the Harmunichs won the BinG! German national competition, performed twice at the European Barbershop Convention and won second place at the 2008 and 2010 German national competition. In 2007 the Harmunichs won a regional casting and competed in the first national chorus grand prix on German national TV.

In 2009 the Harmunichs participated for the first time at the Bavarian chorus contest winning 3rd place in the category "Jazz & Vocal ensembles".
